Walt Sr. was born and
raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Brauer started his business
in 1974 by beginning a freight brokerage business, brokering LTL
service to the St. Louis shipping community. In December of
1980, he bought a truck to move freight across St. Louis.
While he was able to find the reliability his customers needed and
came to expect from the carriers he was representing to move freight
across the nation, he could not get the job done locally without
having his own truck and driver. The first line haul that
SuperVan ran was about 40 miles, to Pevely Missouri, to meet up with
a Tennessee carrier, F & W Express, to give overnight service to
Memphis, TN. After Memphis, a terminal was opened in Kansas
City, KS. After opening St. Louis for an Indianapolis carrier
that subsequently closed it's doors, we opened our own terminal in
Indianapolis and shortly thereafter opened Nashville, TN as well.
Following Nashville we opened Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA and
Newark, NJ with outstanding agents. All of Walt's children
have played major roles in developing this company and today his 2
sons and 2 sons-in-law still hold key positions.
Walt is happily married to his high school sweetheart, and together,
they have 4 children and 12 grandchildren.
Wally was also born and raised in St.
Louis, Missouri and in his high school days was an avid Water Polo
player. He began his career in freight directly out of high
school and at the age of 19 was very effectively selling LTL
freight, on straight commission, for SuperVan. In fact, he
sold so effectively that he was moved from straight commission to
salary in order to keep him from "Breaking the Bank".
Wally has worked in sales in one form or another, including managing
the sales for all terminals up until about 3 years ago. For
the past 3 years Wally has been developing a third party logistics
business which is proving to be a real compliment to our LTL
business. He continues to oversee the entire company and hold
close reigns as his Dad continues to move towards a less hectic
business schedule.
Wally is married and he and his wife are the proud parents of 3
boys.
